In the 1943-45 log book of Don McBride, Lawrence Bizzoco listed his home address as:

Mr. Lawrence Bizzoco
1628 N.W. 15th St.
Miami 35 Florida
Phone 9-2090

May 14, 2007

Don McBride remembers Larry as a mechanic, a little Italian fellow from NYC. Dad thinks he may have worked for Pan Am in Miami, which would be consistent with his written address. Dad thinks that Larry was on the ship when Dad returned from China at the end of the war.

Received the following information from Patti Gully

Lawrence Bizzoco was born Lorenzo L. Bizzoco at Bari, Italy on 27 May 1896. He emigrated to America in 1911 where he worked as an auto mechanic in New York. During World War 1, he served as a bugler in Company B, 5th Infantry.

Lawrence married Grazziela Castoro in Manhattan, NYC, on 27 December 1918. They had two children, son, Dominick James Bizzoco, and daughter, Theresa Marie Bizzoco Cestari. Both offspring are now deceased.

In late 1920, Lawrence became a naturalized citizen of the United States. He relocated with his family to Miami where he worked as a mechanic at a filling station.

During World War II, Lawrence enlisted in the Army and was dispatched to India where he served as an aero mechanic with the China National Airways Corp. Post-war, he returned to Miami, and after a few years, he moved to Spokane, Washington, where he worked for many years as an aviation mechanic with Pan American Airlines.

On 11 September 1971, Lawrence Bizzoco died in a head-on collision near Mendocino, California. He was 75 years of age. He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane.
