WALTER BRUCE PATEY (1??? - 1950's)

From the book, "Santo Tomas" by Frederic Stevens:

Walter Bruce Patey - British
Interned at Santo Tomas then Los Banos until liberated

April 10, 2008

Dear Sir,

I am currently trying to trace the movements of my father Captain Walter Bruce Patey, whose merchant supply ship the 'Seistan' (ex Hong Kong) was sunk in Manila Harbour 27th December, 1941. We believe he was interned by the Japanese in the Santo Tomas Internment Camp in Manilla and on release joined the American Army as a Captain/Col. of shipping in the American Army for the duration of the war in the Pacific. Bruce Patey resumed his civil merchant marine activities at the end of the war but died in the early 1950's.

We would be interested to know if any of the internees of the camp were aware of Bruce Patey's presence or if he (as an Englishman out of Hong Kong) was interned in a different section of Santo Tomas?

Any information you can provide would be gratefully received.

Regards,

Rob (Patey)
