Dear Tom,

I am Lawrence (Larry) R. Carlson living at Talisay, Cebu, Philippines. I, with my brother Robin and my parents, Ray and Imogene Carlson were rescued from Los Banos on 23 Feb 1945. Daddy and Mama passed away many years ago, but the rescue from Los Banos is one of my earliest recollection.

Mama describes in detail our incarceration in her book: “American Family Interned.”

I recently wrote a book, “Before the Colors Fade” essentially my life story, but have included events from the paratroopers jumping into Los Banos. I was only 3 years old at the time of the rescue, but it has stayed with me all my life.
