Thanks for your reply. I have seen this site for years, finally decided to take action.

I was born and raised in Manila, but did a school year every three years in the U.S when my Father was on “home leave”. My Father James C. Rockwell was President of Manila Electric Company, a subsidiary of General Public Utilities; a New York corporation. He met and married my Mother, Ann Hanlon Rockwbell in Manila.

I was in the 8th grade when WW II started, at the American School in Manila. We knew the storm clouds were gathering, but were taking a chance. School got out in March, because of the hot season, then I would go to a boarding school in New England where my brother had learned how to STUDY !!!

Since it took 25 days from the East coast to Manila in those days, I would probably see my parents only every other year.

The plan was to use this long free time to take a trip in our sailboat to Palawan and Bornio. Pearl Harbor changed that, and 22 days later we were guests of the Japanese. Despite serious malnutrition we all survived. I have vision and bone problems today as souvenirs.

That should cover it for you.

Thanks for your good work.

Regards, Jim
