MADELEINE LOUISE WOOTTEN

The Madeleine Wootten was British. From Santo Tomas by Frederic Stevens, page 537:

Madeleine Louise Wootten

December 29, 2010

My father, Michael Begole, was 1 when he and his mother, Elizabeth, went into Santo Tomas. My grandfather, Edgar joined them as soon as he finished blowing up bridges. All three have passed away, my dad the most recent in 2004.

In November of 1943, my grandmother traded a can of spam - a week's worth of food for the family - for Madeline Wootten to do a portrait of my dad. It was done a little over a week before his third birthday and we still have it. My step-mother gave it to me this year for Christmas.

I am so amazed that the portrait and my family survived. It is a treasure I will keep forever and pass on.

I was wondering if anyone knows of Ms. Wootten? If she is still with us, I would love to contact her and thank her for what she gave to my family.
