I am trying to help a man who was born in a POW camp in or near Manila find documentation of his birth. His name is Peter Lach. His mom was married to a US soldier, also named Peter Lach. Peter Sr. was captured at Corregidor and imprisoned elsewhere—perhaps Mukden. Peter Jr. was born 4-14 1942 to his mother a Filipina who was married to Peter Sr. Her name was Lucille Santa Andrada Lach. Mom and child arrived together in the US on a ship called the Republic in October 1946.

The family has been told that no birth certificates were issued for kids born in the camps. If we could find his name on a camp roster that would be an early proof of his birth.

Any advice for us?

The following two photos were received from Peter Lach, Jr. and his wife, Linda. Thank you Linda and Peter - Tom Moore.

This photo was taken in the States
I don't know where but the front is dated 1947 which would make Peter 5 years old.

This photo was taken in the Philippines. I don't know what year (probably pre-WW II).
Lucy is the woman on the right, kind of between the other two women.
I don't know who they are.
(Do you know either of these women?)

If you would like to share any information about the Lach family
or would like to be added to my POW/Internee e-mail distribution list,
please let me, Tom Moore, know.
Thanks!
