HOOVER, Mary Irene -- At rest in San Francisco on November 16, 2000. Beloved wife of Robert Johnson Hoover for 60 years; Loving mother of Mike Johnson Hoover, Mary Patricia Hoover Merrill & Nancy Hoover; dear grandmother of Christopher Robert Hoover, Patrick Michael Hoover, Sarah Irene Merrill, Anne Elizabeth Merrill, Daniel William Redman, Peter Michael Redman and Amy Irene Redman; Loving Sister of C. Louise Smith and loved aunt of Mary Irene Smith; Mary was raised in India and was a P.O.W. in Santo Tomas, Philippines during WWII. She was a homemaker for many years then a Unit Clerk at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, New York. Upon her moving to S.F. she was a Volunteer Unit Clerk at CPMC Pacific Campus where she was Volunteer of the Year several times. An avid bridge player and seamstress, she enjoyed gardens and gourmet cooking. Friends may visit after 3:30 pm on Sunday (TODAY) and are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 4:00 pm. also Sunday at the Evergreen Mortuary of McAVOY O'HARA CO., 4545 Geary Blvd. at Tenth Ave. There will be a Mass celebrating her life at 9:15 am Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 2320 Green Street, SF. Committal Service private, Holy Cross Cemetery. McAVOY O'HARA CO.
